The Next 15 Minutes
Seeking Screenplay Excerpts for Staged Reading


Blackfilm.com and Celia C. Peters are seeking feature screenplay excerpts up to 13 pages in length by black screenwriters of any ethnicity. Three selected writers will be responsible for directing and staging their material as a part of a dramatic screenplay reading, "The Next 15 Minutes: A Staged Reading of Work by Screenwriters." The three selected entries will appear in the Program along with an excerpt of the feature script "Ghost" by Celia C. Peters. The reading will take place in May 2003 and will be presented before a live audience.

Entries may be from either a dramatic or comedic script and must be in standard screenplay format. Entries must be either registered with the Writers Guild of America and/or have the copyright registered with the Library of Congress (verification required). Entries must also include a non-refundable $15 entry fee (in a check or money order, made payable to Blackfilm.com), a signed Participation Agreement and a completed application form.

Materials to be presented in the reading will be selected by a panel of screenwriters and other industry professionals formed by Blackfilm.com. Selected writers will receive an honorarium; writers must be 21 years of age or older. All entries and fees must be received by April 14, 2003 for eligibility.
