This event will be an hour of staged dramatic readings of screenwriting,
divided among four screenwriters. Each selected writer will be entitled
to 15 minutes of stage time to present his or her work.
PROGRAM RULES AND GUIDELINES
- Selected material will be staged before a live audience by the submitting
writer(s) of said material
- Entries shall consist of script excerpts of up to 13 pages in length;
longer entries will be discarded - Submitting writer(s) must be the
sole authors of the work being staged.
- Writers of selected material that is successfully performed onstage
during the Program will receive an honorarium in an amount to be determined
by Blackfilm.com.
- Writers of selected material are solely responsible for casting, directing
and staging their 15-minute portion of the program, including the costs
incurred in doing so; failure to do so will result in exclusion from
the Program and the loss of the honorarium.
- Selected writers will be required to participate in a mandatory dress
rehearsal prior to the date of the event on or around May 21, 2003.
Writers will receive notification of the date and location of the dress
rehearsal from the Producer in a timely manner. In any event, dress
rehearsal will be no less than one week prior to the program. Failure
to participate in the dress rehearsal will result in exclusion from
the Program and loss of the honorarium.
- Blackfilm.com will select alternate entries to be performed in the
Program in the event that any selected entries are withdrawn or excluded
from the Program. Alternate entries will receive an honorable mention
in selected Program materials. If an Alternate writer is given the opportunity
to present his or ger work, they will be awarded an honorarium.
- Staged performances must accurately reproduce the work submitted to
Blackfilm.com. Any deviation from the selected material without the
prior written consent of Blackfilm.com will result in the immediate
interruption of the staged performance and the loss of the honorarium.
- Staged performances that exceed the fifteen-minute time limit will
be interrupted and the selected writers will not receive an honorarium.
- In order to be eligible for consideration, submitted material must
be accompanied by a completed application form, a signed Participation
Agreement and a nonrefundable $15 entry fee in the form of a bank cashier's
check or money order, payable to Blackfilm.com, Inc.
- In order to be eligible for consideration, submitted material must
be from a script registered with either the Writers Guild of America
or which has its copyright registered with the Library of Congress.
- Selection of the winning entries is at the sole discretion of Blackfilm.com
or its assigns.
- In order to be eligible for selection, entries must follow all submission
guidelines; any submitted material that does not will be discarded.
- Any materials submitted will remain the intellectual property of the
submitting writer(s) and destroyed upon the completion of the selection
process, no materials will be returned to the submitting writers.
