Reviews

Latest Review Additions:

Hotel Rwanda (in Film )
"Hotel Rwanda" is one of the most powerful films to come out this year. Don Cheadle has always been a good actor but with this film, he has raised his own bar to excellence.

The Sea Inside (in Film )
Amenabar does a phenomenal job as writer and director.  He puts himself alongside the great Spanish directors with his work on The Sea Inside.

Beyond the Sea (in Film )
Kevin Spacey’s turn as star and director of Beyond the Sea yields mixed results.

Ocean's 12 (in Film )
Sitting through Ocean's Twelve is like spending two hours watching advertisements for a trendy fashion magazine, beautiful people dressed in stylish clothes smiling and doing nothing.
Pray they have the decency to not subjugate us to an Ocean's Thirteen.

Closer (in Film )
"Closer" is a raw, stimulating film filled with excellent performances and an exotic script!

The House of Flying Daggers (in Film )
Flying Daggers is an enormously entertaining film.  It moves at a quick pace and throttles you with slickly choreographed fights.

After the Sunset (in Film )
What you get with this film is an unoriginal concept using the backdrop of a resort to lure us to see a heist film where our time is only thing that was stolen. Together, Salma and Pierce present a good chemistry, but separately Pierce has no funny bones when trying to make a comedic scene with Woody Harrelson work.

A Very Long Engagement (in Film )
The film is a sweeping cinematic odyssey of young lovers separated by the savagery of war. It is a stunning achievement, brilliantly shot, designed, and executed on a grand scale.

Alexander (in Film )
Stone made an epic that rivals the best in Hollywood history and a damned entertaining movie that is sure to sweep multiplex audiences along in its beguiling thrall.

Finding Neverland (in Film )
"Finding Neverland" is full of wit, emotion, adventure, and mystery that will inspire all ages to come see why and how Peter Pan was born. Inspired by true events, "Finding Neverland" is one the year's best films.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban DVD (in Film )
"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" is the best of three Harry Potter films presented on the big screen thus far. Fans will embrace the maturity of the characters, ponder the mystery that is set for them and enjoy the adventure that will bring them back for more.

Bad Education (in Film )
La Mala Educacion (The Bad Education) is an unfortunate step back from the excellence of Almodovar's recen t work.  He goes sexually overboard and loses sight of the narrative.  The result is an incredibly poor third act that will leave you unsatisfied and disappointed.

Ray (in Film )
This film and Foxx's performance has been talked about for most of the year and after seeing it, I concur, that Foxx has definitely reached the peak where Denzel, Will Smith, and Morgan Freeman are now as  "Ray" is truly one of the best films this year.

Vera Drake (in Film )
Vera Drake, the latest film from British auteur Mike Leigh, is quite possibly the best abortion drama ever made.  It is an emotional powerhouse, deeply moving and complex with an astonishing, bravura performance from lead actress Imelda Staunton.
