THE AMERICAN DREAM

On March 4, 2002, our cover page story was, "Oh What A Night." We thought that if Denzel, Will or Halle won the Best Actor and Best Actress awards combined with Sidney's honor, then 'Oh What A Night' it would be. The blackfilm.com crew is in a state of euphoria as we have believed in Denzel, Will, Sidney, Halle and all black actors and actresses since our inception in 1999. Hopefully, in the future, there will be more winners from African-American, Latino, Asian and other races. All we want is fairness. The significance of Sunday's winners is that it cracked the door a tad bit more for the sake of sincerity in the judging process. It appears that the Academy Voters see clearly how important it is to allow for more performances to be respected on an even level. Oh what a night it was. Long overdue. Not to be forgotten and embedded in the history of the American Dream.

Till next time,

the blackfilm.com crew

Showtime
Looking at the trailer for this film, it’s fairly easy to assume “another buddy cop movie”. Your assumption would be correct. How many times have we seen this formula before and hasn’t Eddie Murphy done this before (48 Hours)?

With less than a month to go before the Oscars, it appears that Denzel is building a little steam and just might walk away with a prize that has escaped the grasp of black men since Sidney Poitier walked away with the award some 40 years ago.
