SJ's Corner : Don Cheadle

SJ's Corner : Don Cheadle

This man can act. This man is a star. This man is a thespian. This man will win an Oscar – someday. This man is Don Cheadle. Think about the films that Cheadle has played. Cheadle has made a career from taking any supporting role, playing it big and stealing the movie. Ask Denzel who stole “Devil in a Blue Dress.” Ask Ving Rhames and Jon Voight who was the stand-out in “Rosewood.” His performance in “Traffic” was pure.

Next month, Cheadle joins the cast of Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Andy Garcia and Matt Damon in the re-make of the Rat Pack’s, “Ocean’s Eleven” from Warner Bros. This film will be good. It has to be successful considering the level of acting talent chosen to be the new Rat Pack. We all know that the former Brat Pack essentially was sacked but not this group. (Kudos to Rob Lowe for getting it together). This current group has buried in their bosom some sort of allegiance to doing this right. They know that Dean, Sammy Davis & The Chairman of The Board are watching.

With Steven Soderbergh directing, this cast will surely have a hit. Maybe not “Harry Potter” money or “Godfather” longevity, but unlike other “star vehicles,” this film has history. This film has substance. This film has Don Cheadle.
