MELLO'S KALEIDOSCOPE

A quirky thought provoking comedy, this film explores the nature of existence, reality and perception in a highly enjoyable way.

VWB VOTING WHILE BLACK
By Malissa Strong (7:00)

This film follows a Black man exercising his civil right to vote and the obstacles he encounters. Inspired by the 2000 Presidenntal Elections and the ensuing national crisis, this movie mixes orginal and stock footage with sound design to examine the security of our civil rights in the present and the struggle to obtain them in the past.

MOVE
By Antonia March and Jacqueline McKinley (31:49)

MOVE is a Showtime Black Filmmaker's Showcase 2003 finalist. The film is a racial drama that takes place during three time periods; 1938, 1968, and 2002. In each era, two cars meet head on. One car is full of three young white men, and the other car is full of three young Black men. Coolio, Larry Bagby III, Grant Garrison, William L. Johnson, Walter Emanuel Jones, Will Foster Stewart, Sheridan March, and Lilee Anderson star in the film with a special appearance by Virginia Capers.

About this Series

THE BLACKFILM.COM MIDNIGHT SCREENING SERIES is a monthly, late night series of independent films, discussion, fundraising and fun. Originating in New York at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater, this selective series now takes place at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles, the National Women's Museum in Washington, DC and the Rialto Center for the Performing Arts in Atlanta. The ultimate goal of this program is to build audience awareness and funding opportunities for today's most notable independent filmmakers.
