Helmer Brian Robbins and Eddie Murphy are reteaming on "Starship Dave," Murphy's next project, which is in pre-production at 20th Century Fox. Deep River Prods. is producing along with Guy Walks Into a Bar. Shooting is skedded to begin in March. Robbins ("The Shaggy Dog") recently directed Murphy in DreamWorks comedy "Norbit," due out in February. Based on their "Norbit" relationship, Murphy gave Robbins the "Starship" script. Pete Segal was previously attached to direct the pic but has a scheduling conflict thanks to "Get Smart," which he's helming for Warner Bros. "Starship Dave" is the story of a crew of miniature, human-looking aliens who are seeking a way to save their doomed world. Murphy will play the human spacecraft they travel in (Starship Dave) as well as the ship's captain. David Friendly and Marc Turtletaub are producing for Deep River, Jon Berg and Tom Komarnicki for Guy Walks Into a Bar. Whereas "Norbit" is more a "fairy tale -- it has its own little world that we created," Robbins said -- "Starship Dave" is "more of a fish-out-of-water movie." Robbins' other directing credits include "Varsity Blues" and "Hardball." By Kevin R. Scott
