This is a remake of Wes Craven's 1977 original. A classic suburban American family decides to take a trip cross-country. However, when their trailer breaks down mysteriously in the New Mexico desert, they find themselves preyed upon by a family of deformed hill people who have been mutated by nuclear testing performed by the government in their area.

The hill people see themselves as entitled to what this family has, even if it means performing horrible acts of violence to get what they want, and it's up to the family to defend themselves against these horrors.
