WEDNESDAY'S - PRIME TIME - DON'T MISS IT

Pandora's Box - Chicago

When Russell Simmons started HBO'S "Def Comedy Jam" and Bob Johnson launched BET'S "Comic View," many high-brows in the community complained about some of the raucous behavior and language of the comedians. Well thank goodness high-brows are not in charge of finding talent. Thanks to the "Def Comedy Jam" and "Comic View," the careers of Martin Lawrence, Bernie Mac, Chris Tucker, Cedric the Entertainer and others have bounced from 2nd string to full-time starters in the land of comedy. On Wednesday night, Bernie Mac and Cedric the Entertainer held down the prime-time slots of 8:00pm and 8:30pm with side-splitting humor and quite frankly, delivered some of the best TV in years on Fox. If you have not marked your calendars or set your VCR's to tape their shows, you should do so today. And of course, Damon Wayans held is own on Wednesday night as well. ABC should do the RIGHT thing and move Damon's show to another night. They would only benefit in rating scores if they do so. Maybe we should send letters expressing this desire?

What do you think? What did you think of the shows? Send your thoughts to info@blackfilm.com and maybe we can continue to push the ball forward.

Finally, lets all give the Don-Dada, aka, Ice Cube, a big shout for bringing ANOTHER Number One Movie to America. Don't look now, but the Don-Mega, [Ice Cube's other rap identity], is turning Hollyweird on its head. Now all we need is for Chris Tucker to chill out, collect his thoughts and get with Cube on the next installment of "Friday." Come on Chris, do it for your people. You know this MAN!

Till next time,
the blackfilm.com crew
