Black History Month and Cinematic Visions It is unfortunate that for decades past, African Americans were disregarded in the history books and films of America life. February stands alone as a month reserved to remember our heroes, champion our causes and All-Star Weekend. (Hmmm?) After September 11th, America learned that we, as a nation, must stand together for this country to survive. During the month of February, the blackfilm.com crew will continue to provide you with more film screenings and commentary about the African American cinematic visions that we think have always contributed to the fabric of this union. Who can deny the raw power of "Do The Right Thing" as it dragged film-fans through Brooklyn on a hot summer day? Many people, black and white, never knew about the forces at work in Bed-Stuy, but now they do.
