WILL 2001 MAKE 2002 BETTER?

September 11, 2001. 911. That Day. That Feeling. The Lives. The Families. The Fires. The Deaths. The Fireman. The Soldiers. Five-O. The Smoke. The Rubble. The War. And now a new year is born. Will this year be better? We think it's up to you.

The blackfilm.com crew is looking forward to this year. We are looking forward to seeing many of you grow as artists, entertainers and suits. One can certainly argue that the last quarter of 2001 was so strangely bad that maybe this country and its citizens will try to make 2002 a better year. If any lessons are to be learned from 2001 is that "now" is probably more important than "tomorrow." So filmmakers, screenwriters, directors, and all who toil with works of free expression, utilize that old Nike slogan, "Just Do It." If you are writing a script, finish it. If you are raising money for your film, raise it. If you want to act, then act. If you want to be like Spike, rather than Mike, then get down with that Spike Lee brand of Guerrilla filmmaking. Guerrilla filmmaking? Make it happen any way you can.

The bottom line is that unfortunately, tomorrow is not promised, but oh yes, the sweet smell of today has gold waiting for you. Just Do It.

Till Next Time
